Birka Berserkers is a Stockholm-based esports team representing the Stockholm Society of the New Church. Led by team captain Reverend Eric Sjödin, the team draws its identity from the historic Viking town of Birka, one of the earliest centers of Christianity in Sweden.

The name combines two powerful inspirations: Birka, symbolizing Sweden’s spiritual and cultural heritage, and the legendary berserkers, known for their courage, determination, and fighting spirit. In the same way that Christianity first established itself in Sweden through Birka, the New Church found its beginning in the modern Birka, that is, Stockholm through the teachings and writings of Emanuel Swedenborg.

All members of Birka Berserkers live in Stockholm and share a connection to the values of teamwork, humour, and blaming Denmark for all the bad things in world . The team seeks to honor both Sweden’s Viking past and the New Church’s Swedish roots while competing with faith and chairty in the True Christianity League.
